 NBA Choice Bankroll Building Strategies
Sports Investing vs Gambling

The following article outlines the basic differences between seasoned "sports investing" and "sports gambling". Here at NBA Choice, we seek to educate our clients as well as provide a consistently profitable experience using our NBA picks and college basketball predictions. Therefore, we feel it is critical our members understand the value of our "sports investment" strategies that coincide with conserving our bankroll while building it at the same time. Let us know if you have any questions about this article.

Sports Investment - Strategically, pick 2 to 5 games every day based on the NBA/NCAA schedule. If your biting the underdog, wait until the best line is available. If you are playing a heavy favorite, it may be best action to steal the line when you can.

"Gambling" - You play every game on the board hoping to get ahead.

Sports Investing - Never make any more wagers other than the set games you are intending to play. Whether you win, lose, or push, you will live to fight another day.

"Gambling" - When you have a winning day, you decide to play more on late games and possibly even the casinos to try and hit the jackpot. When you are on a losing streak, you try to recoup your losses by doing the same thing.

Sports Investing - You start the season with a nice size bankroll, let's say $5,000. You play the same percentage on every play, let's say 1% = $500 per play. Once your bankroll doubles, then your per game allocation doubles, inherently growing and maximizing your bankroll. Before long, you are a $1000 per game player, and so forth. The bottom line is, you never risk more than you can lose, and you always live to fight another day.

"Gambling" - You play with money you simply don't have. You blow through your bankroll with no strategy whatsoever, only to go into a mountain of debt before you realize where you went wrong.

Sports Investing - You ALWAYS play the same amount on each game using your per game allocation based on bankroll size (normally 1% of bankroll). You fully understand that going 2-1 on any given day gives you a winning percentage of 67% giving you a cool $500 payout.

"Gambling" - You play each game for a different amount hoping that your "best bet" or "game of the year" hits because you have 4 times more money on the play. You end the week going 20-15 (57%) and still losing money because of the juice and your "Best Bet" not hitting.

Sports Investing - Even when your in a losing streak, you stick to your bankroll strategy and per game allotment for your bankroll (typically 1%). You realize that you can't win every day, and that losing streaks do happen. Further, you live to fight another day and you bounce back nicely building your bankroll week by week. You know this is a marathon, and not a race!

"Gambling" - In the midst of a losing streak, you decide to risk everything on a few of your "best bets". The next thing you know your bankroll is busted and you have to reload your account.

Sports Investing - You take your work (handicapping) seriously as you would any other job. You spend 4-6 per pick pouring over relative information increasing the probability of a win. If you can't devote the adequate time necessary for return on investment, you outsource your handicapping to professional basketball handicappers like NBA Choice to do this work for you.

"Gambling" - You go down the line sheet for today's games and mark the games that "can't lose", and you anxiously make your wagers.

Sports Investing - You stick to the strategies provided by the professional handicappers and you let the professionals do the work for you. Answer this question - When you need a shirt dry cleaned and neatly pressed, do you go out and buy the equipment and spend hours getting that shirt as clean and wrinkle free as possible? Or, do you simply drop it by the cleaners, pay a small fee, then move on with your life? Deep down you know that the cost of dry cleaning does not hold a candle to the irreplaceable time you save by simply leaving this strict process up to the professionals.

"Gambling" - You purchase a package with a professional handicapper like NBA Choice, but either out of arrogance or plain ignorance, you don't follow the bankroll strategies and advice that is given. Further, you get frustrated with yourself, and with your handicapper, all because you could not stick to the simply plan outlined for you.

Sports Investing - You completely understand this is a marathon and not a race. You know the value of your bankroll, and you hold onto it, and build that bankroll continuously. At the end of the season, you go out and celebrate as you should, but you do this in a conservative manner, saving at least 75% of your bankroll for next season.

"Gambling" - You have the common expectation that at the end of certain weeks and seasons, you will either be way up or way down. Your bankroll is never consistent. Therefore, on a winning streak, you go out and blow all the money you have won without a conservative thought. Because of this, you have to reload your account with money you simply don't have.

Sports Investing - You don't let your emotions rule you when marred in a losing streak. You understand that your bankroll is still there, and there will be plenty of more opportunities for you to build this bankroll. Further, you don't give up, even when at your lowest point. You stick to your bankroll plan and eventually you come out of that losing streak and back into the winning side of basketball!

"Gambler" - When you lose, you totally lose your cool. You get frustrated and you do something drastic, either with your bankroll or delicate pieces of furniture in your house. It's the end of the world because you lost your plays, and ultimately you see no light at the end of the tunnel.
